Charles Chan – CEO, Founder

Mr. Chan went to Honolulu Hawaii in his teens as a full-scholarship student from Hong Kong to pursue his academic studies in Hotel and Hospitality Management. After receiving his diploma, he continued his education in the University of Hawaii to better himself in the field of Accounting and Business Management. In 1979, he moved to San Francisco and was recruited by Delta Airlines. He started his airlines career in the Reservation and Sales Department while he continued pursuing higher education. Mr. Chan received his Bachelors in Human Relations and Behavioral Science from University of San Francisco and his MBA from Golden Gate University of San Francisco in which he was majoring in International Business Management and concentrating in Real Estate Investment. Powered by his dream and ambition to succeed in the business world, Mr. Chan moved to New York, left his airline career, and began his journey in the real estate industry in 1986. He started at Merrill Lynch Realty, which later merged with Prudential Real Estate, and became a top producer. In 1990, he was recruited by Sutton & Edwards and focused on commercial real estate transactions in the Metropolitan Area of New York City. In 1992, Mr. Chan followed his instinct and left the firm to form his own commercial real estate company, Harvest International, which models after major American firms. He has dedicated himself to the growth of the company ever since.

Mr. Chan specializes in Restaurant and Fashion Tenants’ Representation. More than a decade ago, he spearheaded a trend by bringing Asian tenants into American society and has brought customers to the national landlords like Rouse Company, Howard Hughes Corp., and Vornado Realty Trust, and more.

In recent years, Mr. Chan has turned his focus on real estate development in the Asian communities and had successfully brokered several mega-sized triple net lease projects (over 100,000 square feet in each case), and turned under-utilized buildings into maximized use. Four years ago, he teamed up with investors and net leased the former Caldor Department Store building located at 136-20 Roosevelt Avenue, Flushing, Queens NY, and joined in redeveloping the department store into a vertical 160,000 square foot Asian lifestyle in-door mall known as New World Mall. The property is above the number 7 train station. The lower-level food court is rich with various styles of Asian cuisines, the different available services provided by retail tenants, the grand restaurant providing great food, catering services, and a venue for special events, the convenient parking garage located below the mall, makes the mall a very popular and iconic gathering place unlike no other in the Flushing community.

Because of his dedication and professionalism in the business, Mr. Chan has earned himself a reputation of a well-respected and prominent commercial real estate broker. He has also been selected as one of the Power Brokers by the CoStar Group for the year 2009, 2011 and 2012.  Mr. Chan had served as a Board Member of the North Shore  Family and Child Guidance Center for over four years, and currently a board member of Nassau County Executive Lauren Curran’s initiative on the Nassau County Economic Advisory Council.  He is the current board member of the Long Island Conservatory as well as the Outreach Committee Member of St. Mary Church of Manhasset NY.

With over 20 years of experience, Mr. Chan is now expanding his business into diversified investments and ventures. He had just launched a Retail and Restaurant Concept Development Consulting (RRCDC) service in Harvest International and the mission is to help new companies to start and or aid existing businesses to grow and expand their retail/restaurant business. RRCDC will guide the businesses and help them fuel their growth.
As the CEO, Mr. Chan monitors the company’s direction of growth and is constantly looking for talented people to work for his company. He has already built a core team and will lead the company to achieve bigger and greater success.

While Ms. Zhou-Chan was pursuing her Master Degree in Economics in 1986, she discovered her interest in real estate. In 1992, she found her niche in industrial brokerage and has kept this passion ever since. She started her focus in Flushing, Queens, where she is known as the area specialist. Soon thereafter she expanded her business into western Queens and Brooklyn. In fact, she was the first Asian female industrial broker who explored the Brooklyn market in the early 1990s.

Ms. Zhou-Chan is fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) which provided her with a competitive advantage to be able to assist not only local customers, but also a broad spectrum of Chinese immigrants and overseas international businessmen alike, requiring commercial real estate services. Throughout the years, she has helped hundreds and thousands of customers to fulfill their requirements. She also has developed strong relationships and ties with many properties owners and developers allowing her to procure deals before they even hit the market. Her motivation, dedication, persistency and professionalism in business have earned great trust and respect from her customers and clients, domestic or abroad.

With over 20 years of experience, Ms. Zhou-Chan has expanded her horizon into investment acquisition, property development & conversion as well as property management. As a partner of Harvest International, she has played a crucial role in growing the company from training new agents, overseeing operation, providing strategies to company’s growing direction to maintaining relationships with customers and clients and closing transactions.

Ms. Zhou-Chan graduated from Queens College with a Master degree in Economics. She is a member of the Commercial-Industrial Brokers Society of Long Island and the Central Lions Club of Flushing, and is also a sponsor and committee member of the Greater NY Chinese Community Dollars for Scholars.

Significant transactions include:

• Leased approximately 150,000 sf of industrial space to multiple tenants at 40-22 College Point Boulevard in Flushing, Queens, NY. This old industrial site was formerly occupied by Con Edison and was later developed into a 3.3 million square foot mixed-use development
• Leased a 100,000 sf warehouse space at Bush Terminal located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY. Daphne represented both the landlord and tenant in this transaction.
• Leased a 72,000 sf one-story industrial building plus an additional 33,000 sf parking lot located at 1250 Metropolitan Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY
• Represented both the buyer and seller of an 80,000 sf one-story industrial building with 15,000 sf of land located at 1101-1107 Metropolitan Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY
• Leased a 55,318 sf one-story warehouse plus 12,000 sf of parking located at 1717 Flushing Avenue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY

Anny (Wanling) Wu joined Harvest International in February 2017 as an executive assistant to begin her career in the field of Commercial Real Estate. In January 2018, she was promoted to be the office manager and based on her above-and-beyond dedicated work ethics and overall attitude towards her job, she was given the opportunity to work side by side with the President of the firm in the sales and leasing. In July 2020, she was promoted to be the director of sales and leasing.

Prior to joining Harvest International, she was a Licensed High School Teacher in China. She attended Shanghai Normal University in China, graduated with a BA in Education and continued her Master of Business Administration with Concentration in Finance from University of Phoenix.

At Harvest International, Anny was responsible for all administrative duties and team support tasks, including Human Re-sources and recruitment, company correspondence, gathering and analyzing all pertinent commercial real estate information, communicating with upper management of departmental needs, as well as building up and keeping relationship with clients. It is of no surprise for a young lady with so much talents, wearing so many hats and still can devote so much energy to her chosen field. Now as the Director of Sales and Leasing, she is facing a new challenge of developing a team of the next generation. With her above-and-beyond work ethics and passion, the company has every confidence that she will soon be the next rising star in the Commercial Real Estate industry.

Current Responsibilities

Scott represents clients & customers in leasing, purchasing, and sales of commercial properties in five boroughs of New York. He offers a wide array of real estate-related services plus in-depth market knowledge.

Experience 

Before joining Harvest International, Scott was a Cost Manager at JLL. He was engaged in multiple types of projects including office, retail, restaurant, residential building, distribution center, museum, & hotel. During his work for JLL, his clients included leading global financial companies, leading global tech companies, luxury restaurants, local museums & airline companies.

He has experience in real estate development, construction management, and cost management. Scott provides cost estimating/planning, benchmarking, market conditions assessment, forecasting, market testing, value engineering, contractor selection, cost analysis, works packages procurement, subcontractor bid leveling, contract sum negotiation, change management, valuation of works completed, and post-contract cost reporting services for his clients.

Education and Affiliations

Scott earned a civil engineering Master of Science degree from Columbia University and also earned a civil engineering Bachelor of Science degree from New York University Tandon School of Engineering. In the meantime, he is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Alan Chan studied at CUNY York College and a long time resident of New York City, is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.  He is a patient and attentive  sales agent and a good father at home.  Alan has been licensed over ten (10) years and focuses in investment properties and has done extensive travel to Asia.

Sherry Chan studied at Berk Trade & Business and a former banking employee, has the most discipline in carrying her business activities, from follow up to site works. She handles leasing as well as sales in Queens. Sherry is also fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese as well, and a loving mom at home.
